About the event
An epic, eclecting and exciting programme kicks off the Hallam Sinfonia 2024/25 season. Ligeti's "Atmosphères", used in Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey, is a wonderful study in orchestral texture; Sibelius's "The Oceanides" is one of the finest depictions of the sea ever composed, and Mahler's first symphony shows why he went on to become what is considered one of the greatest symphonic writers.
